Carrie the Musical opened on Friday, July 21. That's right, Carrie's back from the grave and she's singing, too! Smothered by her religiously demented mother, tortured at school and struggling with her emerging sexuality, Carrie just wants to be a normal kid... but she's far from normal.
Check out what audience members are saying about Carrie the Musical
"I was so moved by last night's performance and can't stop thinking about it. The staging, singing, music direction, acting, and tech were beyond compare. We were totally blown away by last night's opening performance!" - Audience Member
"Carrie White (Anna Parchem) and her mother Margaret White (Julie Penzvalto), team up as the creepiest pair since Faye Dunaway and Diana Scarwid in Mommie Dearest. Through dialog and music, they weave a love/hate tale of persecution, provocation and abuse that will have you squirming in your seat." - Mark Horning
"Beautifully arranged, visually stunning, the energy of a classic Near West Theatre summer show bouncing off the walls with a unique freshness. Melding touches of the epic horror film with a modern reflection on teenage bullying, isolation and revenge. If you haven't bought your tickets, DO IT NOW. Not to be missed!!!!" - Audience Member
"If you are startled at things that go bump in the night, then laugh, this may be the perfect show for you. Elements of stagecraft, choreography, acting and song propel the story of a woeful waif trying to deal with impossible situations at home and at school. This is scary drama at its best, as only Near West Theatre can pull off." - Mark Horning
"What a little gem in Cleveland! Carrie was just as good as any production I've seen on Broadway at a fraction of the cost. I'm looking forward to future productions there." - Audience Member
"I just experienced Carrie, The Musical at Near West.... Do yourself a favor and go see it. Tickets WILL sell out once word gets around about how incredible it is. I'm always blown away by the performances at Near West, but this may be my favorite!" - Audience Member
Carrie the Musical runs till August 6th! There are only a handful of performances left so make sure you get your tickets NOW!
