Musical by Joseph Robinette, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul
Based upon A Christmas Story© 1983 Turner Entertainment Co., distributed by Warner Bros.
Written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown, and Bob Clark
Based on the book In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash by Jean Shepherd
The saga of a little boy whose happiness depends on getting a Red Ryder carbine-action BB gun under the tree, is coming to town, our town, where the classic movie was filmed. The songs are infectious and the writing sublime.
This small-town slice of mid-America wraps its way into your heart like the smell of hot chocolate and fresh baked Christmas cookies. On the NWT stage, a large and diverse hometown cast of over 50, including a fierce group of 20 children, play out Ralphie’s heroic fantasies of saving his family from wild-west villains, while his Dad dreams of winning a “Major Award,” complete with dancing leg lamps!
With a stunning set showcasing 1940s Cleveland Christmas memorabilia and downtown shopping at Higbee’s, this production is a trip down memory lane. This musical is the new Annie, destined to become the musical holiday classic.
Fall Intergenerational Production, ages 7 and up
