Hearts Wide Open - A May Dugan Near West Theatre Collaboration

Hearts Wide Open: A Concert Celebration Rooted in Stories & Reflection is a collaborative community residency between Near West Theatre and the May Dugan Center’s Seniors on the Move! program.

Through music, storytelling, and reflection, participants explore the memories, experiences, and relationships that have shaped their lives. Guided by Near West Theatre teaching artists and supported by May Dugan Center staff, seniors come together to share their voices, celebrate their journeys, and build new connections through the arts.

The residency culminates in a joyful community concert on Friday, April 24, at 2 PM, where participants perform beloved songs and share original reflections inspired by themes of memory, resilience, community, identity, and celebration. This unique performance invites audiences to witness the artistry, wisdom, and creativity of older adults in our community.

Hearts Wide Open affirms the importance of creative expression at every stage of life and celebrates the powerful stories that continue to shape our shared community.
