A Virtual Evening with Alex Martinez
Gliding Through Life: An educational, personal, and musical look at my life as a disabled individual
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alex was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She spent her early years singing and making harmony with her two sisters, learning musical soundtracks start to finish—loving the arts from a young age. She attended The Academy for the Performing Arts at Chagrin Falls High School and graduated from Brush High School. Alex earned an Associate’s Degree in the Arts from Tri-C in 2018. She has participated in theatres around Cleveland as teen and now as an adult including: Heights Youth Theatre, Beachwood Community Theater, and Near West Theatre. Alex also performed on the stages of the Playhouse Square at the Ohio Theatre and the Allen Theatre with Dancing Wheels Company. She is a disability advocate and enjoys raising awareness and sharing about being a part of the disabled community. In 2019, Alex was given the title of Ms. Wheelchair Ohio USA. Alex has been a long time participant with an organization called Youth Challenge. She will be donating this show's proceeds to YC for their support and work in adaptive sports and arts programs for kids and people with disabilities! Alex truly loves all the arts including her passion for drawing. She is a huge fan of Star Trek, Marvel Universe and Doctor Who! Alex is thrilled to be a part of this series at Near West Theatre and thanks you for your support in the arts!
