Our fall, holiday, intergenerational, multicultural, multiracial blockbuster will be Children of Eden, a musical that originally starred Stephanie Mills (Broadway’s Dorothy in The Wiz). From Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippin) and John Caird (Jane Eyre) comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith – not to mention centuries of unresolved family business! Freely based on the first nine chapters of the biblical book Genesis, Children of Eden is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the “Father” who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. As they move through life's changes, the characters struggle with one of life's greatest truths: that “the hardest part of love...is letting go.” Songs include “In Whatever Time We Have,” “Spark of Creation” and “Ain’t It Good.” To be performed by a huge ensemble of children, teens and adults.
